QLD Honours Entrepreneurs - Queensland Business Review

Springfield Land Corporation's Maha Sinnathamby, Robbie Bennets of Professional Investment Benefits, Sam's Seafood founder Nick Noutsatos, Robert Mailer of Beeline Technologies, ePharmacy's Brett Clark and Colin Ryan of the Royal Children's Hospital Foundation were last month recognized as the state's outstanding entrepreneurs.

At a gala awards ceremony held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, the business owners took out awards in six categories of Ernst and Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Awards for the northern region, with Ryan taking out the gong in the social, community and not-for-profit sectors.

Some 23 individuals and 20 companies were finalists. The categories, finalists and winners were:

Retail industrial and consumer goods
Winner: Nick Noutsatos
Finalists: Tom Quinn (Shower-Power manufacturer OzKleen Asia Pacific; Danny Underwood (concrete products producer Danley Construction Products); Nick Noutsatos (Sam's Seafood).

Services
Winner: Robbie Bennetts (financial planner Professional Investment Services).
Finalists: Robbie Bennetts; Phil Harte (events manager Harte's Management); Gary Smith (Tourism Leusure Corporation); John Whittington (engineering firm Lincolne Scott).

Master Entrepreneur
Winner: Maha Sinnathamby (Springfield Land Coporation)
Finalists: Peter Lancaster (food ingredients group Spectrum); Maha Sinnathamby; Rodney Smith (Albert Smith Signs).

Technology, Ecommerce & Life Sciences
Winner: Robert Mailer (Beeline Technologies)
Finalists: Lloyd Ernest (Webcentral); John Grant (Data #3); Robert Mailer; Peter Mason (IT company Braintree Communications).

Young Entrepreneur
Winner: Brett Clark (ePharmacy)
Finalists: Damian Bullock, Darren Handley and Darren Visco (surfboard manufacturer Magic Mix); Brett Clark; Peter Nimmo (industrial battery supplier First National Battery).

The winners will contest the national awards later this year.
